The Knights of Columbus was originally founded to help support families when the father passed away. The Knights are still continuing this tradition by offering many different insurance products to those who don't have better options. Some benefits are free and some can be purchased for extra.
Once you become a knight, you automatically get the following benefits for free:

$5,000 if a child passes away in the first 60 days of birth

$5,000 for a stillborn child

$10,000 for an uninsurable child

$500 per month if a child becomes an orphan

$5,000 a year for college tuition if a child becomes and orphan ($20,000 max)

Accidental Death benefit of $1,500 for members under 5 years and $2,500 for members 5+ years membership

Accidental Death benefit increases for insurance members ($3,000 for under 5 yrs and $5,000 for 5+ years)

Accidental Death benefit is capped at $1,500 for members 65 yrs old and up

Widows can indefinitely apply for new insurance with the Knights of Columbus
